Did you have the urge to lock yourself up in your room when the doctor said you are going through perimenopause? Do you constantly find yourself sweating at night and unable to sleep well? Do you have something serious or is it just menopause?

Every woman will go through menopause at some point in her lives. While some may have it around the ages 45-55, menopause can occur as early as when a woman is 15 years old. Regardless of what age menopause knocks on one’s door, it is something that woman has some difficulty in dealing with. This does not mean that menopause is unpleasant or that it always brings along some terrible consequences. Menopause, like puberty, is a natural phenomenon in a woman’s existence. For years, menopause has been associated with the end of youth and attractiveness. It has been viewed as the sign to the end of sexual life. Moreover, menopause has always been seen as the start of age-related diseases and their complications.

People have painted a bad picture of menopause. That is why for most women, it is the evil incarnate. Several menopause support groups have been created for the purpose of enlightening women on the true nature of menopause. Most of these menopause support groups can be accessed online so people from all over the world may be able to interact and share their views on menopause and how to better cope with it.

The facts that you gather from the doctors, the Internet and medical books, may help you understand menopause better. But ultimately, the thoughts and feelings of other women going through menopause will help you realize that “your menopause” is actually not different from somebody else’s. The menopause support groups’ that can be accessed via the Internet provide forums and message boards where women can “discuss” the many issues surrounding menopause.

Early menopause, normal menopause, post menopause, and all their symptoms, and treatments are all taken up in the menopause support groups. While these groups are not intended to take the place of your health care practitioner, they can still shed light on some questions that your doctor may have failed to inform you.

A menopause support group is like your best confidante. You may not get to meet most or all of the members in person but you will be comforted by the fact that you are not alone. Menopause does not just happen to the best of us. Every single female will go through it, whether one is ready for it or not. However, the experience will depend on how you welcome menopause into your life.
